VENUE : Palmer Sculpture and Environmental Landscape, Cookes Hill Rd, Palmer
The 2010 Palmer Sculpture Biennial will include 24 artists from South Australia, Victoria, NSW , Queensland, England, Germany, Indonesia and Holland responding to the rainshadow landscape of Palmer. Artists visit the site and respond to that experience, enabling a range of contemporary sculptural expression with works somehow complementing rather than competing with the enigmatic landscape.
The range of work includes a symbolic reading of the landscape, responding not only to its physical but also its mythical and the spiritual senses. Sculptures are placed in relationship to the whole landscape and the visitor’s exposure to not only the sculpture but also the ecological landscape is important– they are symbiotic and interconnected.
No restrictions are placed on the artists–stand alone, ephemeral, environmental, installation and performance works can be produced over this 400 acre property.
